PBOC to Continue to Support GD Yesterday afternoon (Sep 9th), the Secretary of Guangdong's CPC Committee, Wang Yang, met in Guangzhou with the head of the People's Bank of China, Zhou Xiaochuan. During the meeting, Wang expressed his gratitude for the long-time support the People's Bank of China has given Guangdong. Whilst Zhou briefed Wang on the G20 meeting held recently and he indicated that the PBOC will continue to support Guangdong.
GZ's CPI Increase Slightly in August Statistics from the National Statistics Bureau indicated that in August, Guangzhou's CPI was slightly higher than that of July, at an increase of 0.2%. Amongst all compared items, the price of consumer goods increased by 0.2% whilst services increased by 0.4%. However, when compared to August 2008, it represents a 3.3% drop.
Anti-Terrorism Drill to be Held Tomorrow on Pearl River Tomorrow morning (Sep 11th) from 9am till noon, an anti-terrorist drill will be held on the Pearl River, between Guangzhou Bridge and Haiyin Bridge. Consequently, ferry services will be suspended from 7:45am at Fangcun Wharf and 8:00am at Zhongda Wharf, but will resume at noon.
