GD's 1st ICU Patient of A/H1N1
The Guangdong Health Department announced last night (Aug 12th) that the life of a 17-yr-old boy from Guangzhou is now in danger. He had contracted A/H1N1 and was sent to hospital after falling into a coma last Thursday (Aug 6th). He is currently under intensive care and it is unknown whether he shall awake from the coma. This is the first serious A/H1N1 patient in Guangdong so far.


Morakot kills 103 in Taiwan
The death toll in Taiwan after typhoon Morakot swept across the island surged to 103 as of 9 p.m last night (Aug 12th) after rescuers found 32 bodies in southern Kaohsiung County. At least 61 people are missing and another 45 have been injured. According to local agricultural authorities, the Typhoon has also caused over 267 million U.S.D. worth of agricultural damage and people from a wide range of social sectors including governmental, corporate, and entertainment have donated cash and goods worth millions of dollars to support the disaster-relief work.

GZ & Foshan to Set up Urgan Management Working Stations

The Guangzhou Urban Management Bureau and its Foshan counterpart signed an agreement yesterday (Aug 12th) to co-administer contiguous urban land and share resources at bordering areas. As a result, "urban management working stations" will be set up in those areas. Although their exact function doesn't yet appear very clearly, the government hopes they will serve as the first examples of co-administration.
