GZ Waste Water and River Treatment Lags Behind Schedule The latest survey shows that only 61 out of the 581 waste water and river treatment projects have been completed. What's more concerning still is that nearly 60% of the projects haven't even started yet. The reasons behind these delays are mainly due to land requisition problems. Zhu Xiaodan, the secretary of Guangzhou's CPC committee pledged yesterday (Aug 6th) that the water quality in the PRD would improve and the other projects will be completed on time but without neglecting quality.

Temperature to increase after the typhoon According to the 24 Chinese Solar terms, today is the first day of autumn. The PRD should start to see the end of rain for a while and temperatures should start to rise again. Temperatures in Guangzhou are expected to jump by 6 degrees from the previous 27 degree yesterday. As of 4p.m. yesterday (Aug 6th), the typhoon named ¡°Goni¡± had brought the largest downpour in Guangdong in the past 50 years. 43 towns were flooded affecting 520,000 people and leading to a direct economic loss of 480 million yuan.
