Guangdong Takes Precautions against GONI
The 7th typhoon this year named "Goni" reached Taishan yesterday morning, causing strong winds and rainstorms in Western Guangdong and the PRD. Guangdong Vice Governor, Li Ronggen, issued an emergency warning last night (Aug 5th), ordering relevant departments to adopt precautionary measures. 4 teams have been sent out to Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and other typhoon-stricken cities and around 47,000 ships were transferred to nearby sanctuaries. Today Western Guangdong and the PRD will continue experiencing heavy rainstorms.

Guangdong's Electricity Consumption on the Rise
With days of unbearable heat, Guangdong's electricity consumption has been on the rise. The Guangdong Electricity Power Corporation estimates that the situation will continue for some time, putting great pressure on the electricity grid. The company announced it has taken precautions to ensure the stability of the electricity grid. Starting from last June, Guangdong's electricity consumption has been climbing, ending a 8-month-long decrease since last October.

GD Delegation Pays Tribute to Zhuo Lin in Beijing
Guangdong sent a delegation to Beijing yesterday (Aug 5th) to pay tribute to Zhuo Lin, Deng Xaioping's late wife who passed away last Wednesday (Jul 29th) at the age of 93. Ou Guangyuan, the director of the standing committee for the Guangdong NPC led the delegation.
