GZ Clinches Deals Worth 30 Billion Yuan with SOEs and Large Enterprises
28 new projects will be set-up in Guangzhou to accelerate the pace of the city's industrial development. More from our reporter Fang Yan:
Yesterday (Aug 3rd), the Guangzhou government and local enterprises signed strategic cooperation agreements worth 30 billion yuan with central government-level State Owed Enterprises as well as with large-scale enterprises. These include China State Shipbuilding Corporation and Bao Steel Group Corporation. Zhou Jichang, Chairman of the Board for the China Communications Construction Group, introduced their investment plan:
"In recent years, taking into account the total value of the projects we've already invested into and those we are going to invest into, all this will exceed over 10 billion yuan."

Guangdong Likely to be Hit by Two Typhoons Simultaneously
The Guangdong Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters yesterday (Aug 3rd) said that it could not rule out the possibility that the province may be hit by two or more typhoons at the same time. Currently protections are being built across the province as well as reinforcement work to prevent major damage caused by typhoons in the future.

Cases Rise in Patients Suffering the Heat Stroke
According to several major hospitals, days of very hot weather in Guangdong have led to a rise in the number of patients suffering from heat strokes. The Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been receiving for the past two days over 10 of such patients a day. Doctors advise people to keep out of the sun as much as possible, and obviously drink a lot of water. These measures are even more important for young children and the elders.
