Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge to Start in December The official schedule for the construction on the highly anticipated Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge was announced recently. Work will be put underway on December the 20th, just before Christmas. The Bridge will connected the three cities so some were expecting specific boarder crossing regulations but the authorities have announced that all 3 cities would conduct ordinary checks on all vehicles using the bridge.

AH1N1 Still Worries Officials The Ministry of Education issued an emergency notice yesterday (Aug 3rd), requiring that student group activities not be held unless they are absolutely necessary. The notice comes after AH1N1 outbreaks have been declared in a number of summer camps. Regarding overseas study programs, most organizers in Guangzhou have said they are not planning on canceling anything for the time-being.
GZ and Paris :Two Weddings for the Same Couples Yesterday (Aug 3rd) 20 newly-wed couples in Guangzhou were chosen for a romantic trip to Paris where they will celebrate their union with a western-style weddings. They will at the same time become cultural ambassadors to promote Guangzhou in Paris. This event is co-organized by the two cities that have planned for the young lover to leave on September 9th. After the lucky couples have a Chinese style group weddings, there will then have a western-style wedding in one of the most fashionable districts of Paris.
Temperatures to Drop on Wednesday The hot weather is expected to keep its grip over Guangdong tomorrow (Aug 4th) as the tropical lower pressure is intensifying. 66 metrological monitoring stations across the Province have recorded temperatures of over 35 degrees. Temperatures in most of Guangdong will still hover around 35 to 38 degrees tomorrow, but the good news is that this tropical lower pressure is moving closer to sea. That should bring some rain and cause temperatures to drop on Wednesday (Aug 5th). Yesterday (Aug 2nd), in Dabu, near Meizhou, temperatures of 39.6 degrees were recorded, the highest temperatures in Guangdong this year.
