GD and Greater PRD Business Council to Deepen Cooperation Yesterday afternoon (Jul 29th) in Guangzhou, the Secretary of Guangdong' CPC Committee, Wang Yang, met Victor Fung, the president of the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council. Founded in 2004, its main function is to lobby their chief executive into adopting policies that facilitate economic cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangdong. Wang indicated that Guangdong intends to enhance cooperation with the Hong Kong business council and promote trade throughout the greater PRD.
Dongfeng Nissan to Invest Big in Huadu Dongfeng Nissan announced yesterday (Jul 29th) it will invest 5 billion Yuan into building a new factory in Huadu district. Construction work should be completed by 2012, after which it will have an annual production capacity of 600,000 vehicles, becoming south China's biggest vehicle manufacturing base. Currently, Dongfeng Nissan has a production capacity in Huadu is 360,000 vehicles annually.

Deng Xiaoping's Widow Dies Zhuo Lin, the widow of China's late leader Deng Xiaoping, died in Beijing on Wednesday at the age of 93. According to a statement issued by the General Office of the CPC¡¯s Central Committee, she died after her medical treatment failed to fight back an illness. Zhuo Lin joined the CPC in 1938. During the Cultural Revolution, her husband was wrongly criticized and she too was implicated. After some time working in the countryside, in January 1978, she was appointed consultant for the Central Military Commission. She later served as a deputy to the fourth and fifth National People's Congress and was awarded the Independence Merit Medal from the People's Liberation Army in 1988.
