Oil Price Down 220 Yuan per Ton
The National Development and Reform Commission has reduced the price of oil by 220 Yuan per ton, that is, by 0.16 Yuan per liter for gasoline and 0.19 Yuan per liter for diesel. These new prices became effective today, but for how long, that remains unknown. Since a reform at the beginning of the year, oil prices now fluctuate according to the international oil market, so for instance, this is the 2nd time this year that prices have been reduced.

Guangzhou's Industrial Products Quality Check Report Issued
The Guangzhou Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau issued yesterday afternoon (Jul 28th) a report on the quality of industrial products in 2008. According to the report, amongst the 125 kinds of products that were inspected, 93.7% of them passed the quality checks. Amongst the products examined, food products were the ones with the highest qualification rates, whilst clothes failed to meet basic standards.

Guangzhou Commemorates 33rd Anniversary of Tangshan Earthquake
Yesterday (Jul 28th) an event was held in Guangzhou to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Tangshan Earthquake. The event took place in Zhudao Garden, with experts on earthquakes spreading knowledge on measures to take if ever an earthquake happens, such as hiding under the table and turning off the gas. Tangshan Earthquake is one of the world's most tragic earthquakes. It took place in 1976 and killed over 240,000 people.
