Hu Jintao Urges All Ethnic Groups to Show Mutual Respect President Hu Jintao's ended his 4-day visit to Yunnan with a call for people to respect ethnic diversity. Yunnan is a province home to 26 different ethnic groups, so he urged people to show mutual respect and concern, but also fight to preserve the hard-won unity of all ethnic groups. In the town of Guantun, the epicenter of a strong earthquake that jolted the region early July, Hu talked with quake-affected villagers and asked local officials to prioritize quake-relief and reconstruction projects.


Overseas Media Inspected Enviromental Control of Huizhou's Petrochemical project Journalists from famous foreign news agencies and media were in Huizhou yesterday (July 28) to inspect the impact of China's largest joint venture on the environment. Set-up between the CNOOC and Shell, this petro-chemical project surprised many journalists by the little impact it has on the city's beautiful and natural environment. The delegation also visited TLC's mobile phone and LCD screen production line, which gave everyone present, an insight into the city's high-tech industry. The delegation is moving on to Dongguan today (July 29), and is scheduled to interview top government officials before visiting a Nokia factory and the Songshan Lake Science and Technology Park.

"Sweet Journey" Hami Melon Festival Held in Hami Xinjiang Named "Sweet Journey", the 6th Hami Melon Festival kicked off yesterday (Jul 28th) at Hami, in Xinjiang province. Tourists from all around China have gathered in this small city to join the festivities and taste sweet melons.
