China-U.S. Strategic & Economic Dialogue Opens
Yesterday (Jul 27th) opened in Washington the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue. At a press conference before the opening of the meeting, President Hu Jintao said that China and the United States shoulder important responsibilities on a number of major issues related to peace and development. He added that as the two countries have a significant influence in the world, China and the United States share many common interests and that a broad space is open for cooperation. China and the United States, in the face of the complex and changing international economic and political situation, should endeavor to expand common ground, reduce differences, enhance mutual trust and strengthen cooperation through these Strategic and Economic Dialogues.

Overseas media group continues visit in Huizhou
An overseas media delegation consisting of reporters from 19 famous international media agencies started a visit of Guangdong yesterday and today (July 28) are in Huizhou. Our journalist Zhengyun has the details:
This is the largest international media delegation to ever visit Guangdong, so what topics are the journalists focusing on? Wagner from Der Spiegel, the famous German weekly told us:
"Today in Huizhou, the delegation is visiting manufacturing plants dedicated to consumer electronics, mobile communications and home appliances, and well as the joint venture between the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Shell Petrochemicals Co. The end of the day will focus less on business and more on the environment will a visit to the national reserve for sea turtles."

Guangzhou to Extend Coverage of Law Consultation Services
According to a new regulation passed yesterday (Jul 27th), Guangzhou will extend the criteria for citizens to be eligible for free legal consultations. The regulation now allows another 6 groups of people get free legal assistance, including those who already benefit from social relief, migrant workers seeking help on long-due payments, volunteer soldiers and so on.
