Guangdong's Electricity Consumption Rises in June
China Southern Power Grid revealed yesterday (Jul 1st) that in June Guangdong recorded consumption levels of 31.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 8% from June 2008. It's also the first increase since last October, so many see this as a sign that Guangdong's economy is steadily recovering from the economic crisis.

Guangdong's First Online-Invoice Issued in Dongguan
Yesterday (Jul 1st) Guangdong's first online-invoice was issued in Dongguan, the first of many of this new practice of issuing invoices online in Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhuhai and Jieyang. For the time being, online invoices are only available in industries such as advertising and real estate but the Guangdong Land Taxation Bureau revealed that this service will be developed in other places in Guangdong later this year.

Parks in GZ Open for Free and Sees Surge in Number of Visitors
Yesterday (Jul 1st) was the first day for the general public to enjoy free access to 32 parks in Guangzhou. Our journalists visited some of the parks and noticed an increase in the number of visitors, but also in the number of staff patrolling these public spaces. Most people told our reporters that they had come to the parks after learning about the new policy and other more regular visitors expressed that they were satisfied with the smooth process of getting refunds for their yearly or monthly tickets. But at the same time, some are worried that free access to these parks might create public security problems.
