GZ Reshuffles Government Organizations Guangzhou's municipal government will restructure and reshuffle 41 departments by the end of this year. This move, part of the government's national institutional restructuring plan, is said to reduce redundancies whilst avoiding departments with overlapping duties. Once completed, previous sections will be merged into 9 big departments, including the new city management commission. This reform is expected to reduce by half the amount and length of administrative procedures.
Free Parks Open Today Starting today (Jul 1st), 32 parks in Guangzhou including Yuexiu Park, Liuhua Park, the Cultural Park and 2 gardens inside Luhu Park, will be open to citizens for free! Those who had originally bought a monthly or a yearly ticket can return it before the end of the year and shall get a refund. Although the policy has been hailed by many citizens, some have expressed concern the parks will end-up too crowded and that up-keeping these public spaces will be rendered difficult.
Jiangmen Included into the 1-hour PRD Scheme Jiangmen is to integrate Guangzhou's one-hour proximity circle. Guangzhou and Jiangmen authorities signed an agreement yesterday (June 30) on strengthening cooperation in key fields, including the construction of a railway line to Guangzhou's Nansha Port, the inland logistic center in Heshan, and the intercity railway linking Guangzhou, Foshan, Jiangmen and Zhuhai.
