Traffic Resumes on Beijing-Guangzhou Railway Line At 2:34 early this morning (Jun 29th), two trains collided in Chenzhou station in Hunan province. The crash took place on the Beijing-Guangzhou line and resulted in 3 deaths and over 60 injuries. The Guangzhou Railway Group said they activated an emergency response plan soon after the accident took place. By 2:25 this afternoon,traffic in both directions had resumed on the railway line.

GZ Asian Games kicks off Online Knowledge Competition A new campaign entitled "how much do you know about the Guangzhou Asian Games" officially kicked off for citizens online. The interactive competition is designed to test participants knowledge concerning the Guangzhou Asian Games. The preliminary section will end on August 15th and over 8000 gifts will be awarded by the organizers.

Turkey to Established Consulate in GD Turkish President Abdullah Gul arrived in Shenzhen yesterday (Jun 28th) for a visit during which he expressed his hope for Turkey and Guangdong to deepen co-operation. To the convenience of many people president Gul announced that Turkey plans to establish a consulate in Guangdong, as well as a branch office for Turkish Airlines. During the visit, authorities also announced that the total trade volume between Turkey and Shenzhen amounted to 240 million USD for the past 5 months.
Nanhai Releases Marine Lives back to Sea This morning (Jun 29th) in Sanya, the Nanhai Fishery Bureau hosted a ceremony before releasing marine resources into the sea, therefore demonstrating the importance of the protection of wild and endangered species. 3 whale sharks, 19 sea turtles and 7 million fries were released and, for the first time, the organizers have started to track the whale sharks with satellites to better understand their habits and therefore improve protection strategies.
