Guangzhou Economy Sees Slow Recovery
According to the latest statistics released by the Guangzhou Bureau of Statistics, in the first five months of 2009, investments in fixed assets totaled over 69 billion yuan, up nearly 20% over the same period last year. Although, investments in real estate reached only 22 billion yuan, dropping by 9.5%, commercial apartments sold well and witnessed increases of 39.4% in terms of surface and 25.8% in terms of sales.
China Forestry Sector Output Totals $195 bln, up 13% Year on Year
According to Li Yucai, deputy director of the State Forestry Administration, production by China's forestry industry rose 13% last year to top 1.3 trillion yuan (194.7 billion U.S. dollars). Foreign trade of forest products hit 70 billion U.S. dollars, representing 18% of the world's total and ranking second after the United States.
American Companies ink RMB 3.4 Billion Deals in Whirlwind Trip to Fujian
Only one month after the release a paper by the Central government called "Some opinions on supporting Fujian province to develop the West Taiwan Strait Economic Zone," a delegation of 74 American companies from the US Chamber of Commerce in South China spent three days (June 24 -26) in Fuzhou and Xiamen seeking out opportunities and making investments leading to deals worth over 3.4 billion yuan -far exceeding original expectations.
Dongguan Signed 57 Projects altogether in the Dongguan Investment
A promotion conference was held in Guangzhou recently presenting projects underway in Dongguan. With investments amounting to 47 billion yuan, key industrial zones around Songshan Lake, Humen Port, Machong and Shatian were the main attractions of the meeting. Dongguan will hold investment promotion conferences in cities where the distribution of state-owned enterprises and private enterprises are centered, such as in Hangzhou, Beijing and Shenyang.
