Medical Insurants to Enjoy up to 65% Outpatient Fee Reimbursement Beginning on August 1st, 2.6 million Guangzhou residents will be able to enjoy the new basic medical insurance, with reimbursements up to 65% at outpatient clinics. The scheme will set a limit on outpatient fees at no more than 300 yuan per month, but officials from the Guangzhou Labor and Social Insurance Bureau said that this limit should be enough for 87% of patients. This scheme is expected reduce the cost of seeing a doctor, a heavy burden for many Chinese families.

Wanglaoji in Top List for First Time Wanglaoji, the famous brand of herbal drinks, leaped to the 49th position in China's Hurun brand value ranking. Wanglaoji was absent from the ranking last year, but seems to have impressed a lot of people after the company donated 100 million yuan to the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. Its brand value is estimated to have hit 540 million USD.
GDB Executive Held In Police Custody Police have detained two senior executives from the Guangdong Development Bank, a mid-sized Chinese lender, in which Citigroup owns 20%. Wang Xin, the GDB's vice-president, and another unnamed department head, were detained last week in connection with unspecified economic crimes.
China Plans Northwest Inland Regional Economic Zone Across Shaanxi, Gansu According to a plan released by the State Council's Information Office on Thursday (June 25), China is to build an inland regional economic zone spanning across two northwestern provinces. The Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Zone Development Program will cover 79,800 square kilometers, and will be located both in the provinces of Shaanxi and Gansu.
