Guangdong's Illegal Use of Land in Severe Situation, the Approval System Needs to Reform
The Guangdong Branch of the State Land Administration voiced concern yesterday(June 25th) about the severe situation faced in Guangdong by illegal use of land. The recent 100-day inspection found over 2700 violation cases. What's more, according to Su Weixing, the Director General of the Administration, lots of land was misused or wasted and that with the launch this year of so many big projects, the land approval system needs to reform.
"This year the nation has launched policies to boost domestic demand, and key construction projects will soon start construction. We need to reform the approval system; to make the process shorter and simplified so that the projects can start in time."

First Phase of Guangzhou-Gaoming Expressway Put into Operation
The first phase of Guangzhou-Gaoming expressway opened to traffic today (June 25th) for those traveling in Foshan between Xiqiao and Genglou. Although the second phase of the construction is still underway, upon completion in 2011, it will bring the travel time between Gaoming and Guangzhou to less than one hour.
Traveling to Thailand Cost Less
Starting today (June 25th), the free-visa policy for Chinese traveling to Thailand was put back into effect, which should lead to cheaper Thailand trips for the Cantonese. This policy will last until March 4th 2010.
