
Hengqin Part of Zhuhai's Special Economic Zone
Hengqin Island, situated next to Macao but belonging to Zhuhai, has been integrated into Zhuhai's Special Economic Zone. The State Council approved the plan yesterday (June 24), stressing that the development of Hengqin Island will benefit cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, whilst facilitating Macao's economic diversity. The State Council will focus on developing on the island various commercial services, tourism, scientific research and high-tech industries.
11 Jiangmen Students Positive to AH1N1
The Guangdong Health Department last night (June 24th) confirmed 11 new A/H1N1 cases in Jiangmen, all of whom are classmates in Beijiao Central Primary School. As of today, there have been 156 A/H1N1 cases in Guangdong. Yesterday also saw an Australian Chinese A/H1N1 patient discharged from hospital, the fourth case who recovered after being treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
GZ Citizens Contribute Ideas for 2010 How to better prepare for Guangzhou¡¯s 2010 Asian Games? Guangzhou citizens yesterday (June 25th) voiced their ideas directly via the city hall hotline. The city-wide fitness campaign was also one of the hot topics. Vice-Mayor Xu Ruisheng:" Efforts are being made to build more sports facilities, in particular those the public can use. The key is to use them properly."
