China's fiscal revenue drops but expenditure increases
Finance minister, Xie Xuren, said today (June 24th) that the Chinese government's fiscal revenue in the first five months of the year reached 2.7 trillion yuan, a drop of  over 195.6 billion yuan year-on-year. However, since January, the nation's fiscal expenditure increased to almost 2.25 trillion yuan, a rise of over 488 billion yuan year-on-year.

Renovation Work on GZ Asian Games Venue Begins
Renovation work began today (June 24th) on some of Guangzhou's sports venues ahead of the 2010 Asian Games. 11 venues, including the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center and Guangdong Stadium will be undergoing a face-lift, for an estimated cost of 400 million yuan.

SZ's Export Total Volume in the Private Sector This Year Rises
The latest statistics released by Shenzhen Customs show that although the city's total volume of exports dropped by over 15% in the first five months, the overall export volume from the private-owned enterprises saw an increase of 16.5% year-on-year, amounting to over 15 billion US Dollars.

GZ Citizens Advised to Pay Attention to the Production Date of Bulk Food
In response to citizens' concerns over ways to identify "consumption date" and "sell-by-date" limits on food, the Guangzhou Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau today (June 24th) advised citizens to pay great attention to all production date information found on packages. If any quality issues appear, consumers are encouraged to file a complaint to the authorities.
