GD's Confirmed AH1N1 Cases Exceeds 100
As of last night (June 21st), the number of AH1N1 confirmed cases in Guangdong had risen 111, higher than any other province in China. The number of confirmed cases jumped dramatically, after 24 students in Dongguan were confirmed to be infected by the virus on Sunday. As of last night, 30 cases had been confirmed in the same school, forcing authorities to suspend classes for one week. Quarantine has been imposed, but the public is advised not to dwell in public places with bad ventilation.
Third Phase of Huanan Expressway Open to Traffic
A third section of the Huanan expressway was opened to traffic at 8am this morning (June 22nd). The expressway cost an estimated 2.7 billion yuan to build and will facilitate transport between Guangzhou and Foshan for drivers willing to pay the 10 Yuan toll fee.
GD's First Large Taiwan-Invested Hospital Begins Construction
The construction of a large Taiwan-invested hospital began in Dongguan yesterday (June 21st). This is the 1st project of the kind in Guangdong, and is expected to bring new medical services and management expertise.
