Industrial and Labor Transfer Key of Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Cooperation Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhaoqing have said they will work closer in order to build a one-hour economic proximity circle. The 3 cities signed a cooperation agreement yesterday (June 17), with the dual transfer policy being the main aspect.

The Secretary of Guangzhou's CPC Committee, Mr. Zhu Xiaodan gave some explanation concerning the dual transfers:
''The idea is to promote the gradual transfer of Guangzhou and Foshan's industries to Zhaoqing, and in turn transfer Zhaoqing's labor surplus to Guangzhou or Foshan. ''

In addition to building new inter-city railway lines, the 3 sides pledged to jointly improve wastewater treatment and reduce air pollution, with the ambitious aim to clean up the environment.

GD Confirms 56 H1N1 Cases; No Outbreak Yet
Guangdong reported 9 new A/H1N1 cases yesterday (June 17), 5 in Guangzhou and 4 in Shenzhen. The total number of infected now reaches 56. So far, 28 patients have been discharged from hospital and 28 are still undergoing treated. The Guangdong Health Department said that although cases are reported in the province, for the time being there is no sign of the eminence of a massive outbreak. All the same, the department is strengthening precautions and surveillance to avoid the influenza spreading more rapidly. 

India Interested in Longan Seedlings Export from Maoming
Today (June 18) is the 2nd day of the consular delegation's inspection in Western Guangdong. Yesterday they were in Maoming, Mr. Kaushik, the Economic Consul to India, expressed interest in exporting Longan seeds to India. Ms Lin Ridi, the vice-mayor of Maoming welcomed the idea and said that although exporting seeds is new to Maoming, businessmen and agricultural experts could all sit down and discuss the issue. What's more, Ms Lin also promised that no limit would be set on foreign investment in Maoming.
