East China reports higher industrial output growth in April According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China's eastern regions, the powerhouse of the country's economy, reported 6.7% growth in industrial output in April. That's 3% higher than in 1st quarter. In April, the growth in industrial output in the coastal province of Shandong was up 7.6% from the first quarter, that of Jiangsu province up 3.8%, and Guangdong up 2.6%.
Shenzhen special economic zone aims to be 5 times bigger Shenzhen officials have prepared a blueprint to expand the country's first special economic zone (SEZ) to the whole city. If approved, Bao'an and Longgang districts which make up four-fifths of the city's land mass, will become part of the SEZ.
Guangzhou's Average Wage Increased By 12.9% The Guangzhou Bureau of Labour and Social Security published a report stating that the average annual wage for company staff and workers in urban areas reached over 45,000 yuan in 2008, up nearly 13% compared to last year. The monthly average salary stands at 3,780 yuan.
International Liquor Trade Center to Be Established in Guangzhou Bonded Zone An International Liquor Trade Center, jointly established by Guangzhou's Development District and the Liquor Association of Guangdong Province is scheduled to be opened in Guangzhou's Bonded Zone on July 9th during the 4th Guangdong Liquor Expo.
