Quarantine lifted for foreign tourists in Tibet as A/H1N1 test proves negative Tibet lifted the quarantine measures it had taken on a foreign tourist group this morning (May 20th) after one of its members who was previously suspected of having A/H1N1 influenza, was confirmed to have just a "seasonal flu". The quarantine ended after tests conducted by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the patient was A/H1N1 negative and infected instead by the A/H3N2 virus, a simple "seasonal flu".

Guangdong's Biggest Inter-provincial Industrial Park Commences Construction Guangdong has started to set up its biggest inter-provincial industrial park in Guangxi province. Yesterday afternoon (May 19th), the ceremony to mark to beginning of the construction work took place. Our reporter, Yang Zhen, was on the spot and he/she has the details: Around 7.5 billion Yuan will be invested into infrastructure. The park is expected to generate an industrial output of 15.5 billion Yuan and provide jobs to as many as 50,000 people. The Director of Guangdong's General Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Wu Kaili, indicated that the park will serve as a platform for Guangdong's electronic appliances to enter ASEAN markets. "We need to adjust and optimize the structure of the electronic appliances market, especially that of the export market. Relatively speaking, Guangdong's electronic appliances products have a great advantage on ASEAN markets."
Brazil to Set up General Consulate in GZ China and Brazil issued a joint communique on Tuesday (May 19th) to boost their strategic partnership as Brazilian president visited Beijing. Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva agreed that both countries have enjoyed fruitful cooperation since forging diplomatic ties 35 years ago. According to the communique, China welcomes Brazil to set up a general consulate in Guangzhou. The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in education, culture, press, tourism and sports.
Thunderstorm to hit Eastern GD Tonight This morning (May 20th) a thunderstorm hit Guangzhou with gale 8 to 10 winds. Tonight, the rain will move from the PRD and Western Guangdong to the east of the province.
