Guangzhou's English Translation of Sign Posts in Public Places to be Standardized
Guangzhou has said it will correct the English translations of sign posts in public places. Toilets, Slippery floor, Please hold the handrail, all these and more can be found everywhere throughout the city, but you might get "lost in translation" as indeed, many of the signs have been translated into many different versions, and not always correctly. Take Chen Clam Temple for instance, also known as Chen Jiaci, one of Guangzhou's most famous tourist attractions, you can find four different translations of the name. These issues have pushed the local government to standardize English transcriptions of places and streets.
