Pictograms unveiled for Guangzhou 2010
The logos and other visuals for all the activities held during the Guangzhou Asian Games were unveiled yesterday (May 13). The pictograms of the 56 sporting events are closely linked to the representation of a flame torch, whilst the logo for cultural events features a Cantonese opera mask. Xu Ruisheng and Zhao Jian, both in charge of the 2010 Games and its communication campaign jointly unveiled the products.

Hong Kong reports new case of A(H1N1) flu Hong Kong reported yesterday (May 13) its 2nd confirmed case of influenza A(H1N1) infection. A 24 year-old man who flew in from the United States and landed in Hong Kong on Monday tested positive for the virus. One of the passengers closest to the patient entered Shenzhen yesterday, but has now been traced down and put under quarantine in Shenzhen.In wake of these new cases in both Hong Kong and Chinese mainland, the Guangdong Health Department held a meeting with its municipal health bureaus and experts yesterday to discuss on A/H1N1 flu prevention measures.

Vice Governor Tong Xing Meets With Polish Delegation The Vice Governor of Guangdong, Mr. Tong Xing met with the Polish Deputy Minister for Infrastructure, Mrs. Anna Wypych Namiotko in Guangzhou yesterday (May 13). Tong pointed out that cooperation between Guangdong and Poland hadn't been affected by the financial crisis. Indeed, both regions' import and export trade volume reached 1.8 billion US Dollars in 2008, nearly a 50% increase from 2007. What's more, in the first four months of the year, Guangdong and Poland continued to see their trade grow by over 20% which pushed Tong to note that the two regions should continue to develop deeper cooperation in infrastructure and trade.
