Inter-city Rail Built to Shorten Journey between Dongguan and Huizhou
A ceremony was held in Dongguan this morning (May 8) to mark the beginning of the construction on the inter-city rail link connecting Dongguan and Huizhou. Our reporter Li Hui has more:
The construction is expected to last three and half years and upon completion, it will only take 1 hour to link the 2 cities. Xiao Zhongrui, from the Board of Directors of the Guangdong Railway Construction Corporation presents the project:
"Once the inter-city rail is open to traffic, it will offer residents living along the line a fast, convenient and safe means of  public transport. This high-speed connection will link the east and the west of the  PRD, greatly facilitating transportation for those traveling between Dongguan and Foshan, and Foshan to Zhaoqing."

Wenchuan County the Earthquake-hit Area In Lack of Huge Funding for Reconstruction
As the one-year anniversary marking the Sichuan earthquake is approaching, the Guangdong delegation which has assisted in the reconstruction work in Wenchuan county announced they have completed the repair work on the counties roads. However, the delegation also said the county is still lacking money, and that the 20.7 billion yuan put aside for the reconstruction work isn't enough.

Shanghai Composite Index Standing at 2,600 Points
Today, and for the seventh consecutive day, Chinese shares continued to climb with the Shanghai composite index rising over 2,600 points, an increase of just over 1%, and the Shenzhen component index ending the day at 10183 points, a growth of 0.7%.
