Guangzhou Asian Games takes new marketing steps
The Guangzhou Asian Games signed yesterday contracts with 28 sponsors, collecting more money than any of the previous Asian Games. According to the Games' marketing department, copyright royalties collected from medias in China, South Korea, Korea DPR and the Middle East have also surpassed that of the 2006 Doha Games.

Canton Fair's 2nd Domestic Sales Promotion Meeting Held
The Canton Fair held a 2nd meeting to promote domestic sales yesterday (May 6th). Our journalist Yang Zhen was at the meeting:
Most foreign trade companies offered a cold reception to the domestic ones mainly due to the differences in their operation mode. Their long-term engagement in the OEM (original equipment manufacturing) sector has rendered most of them simply processing factories whilst domestic sales involve more marketing and channeling. Jiang Guoyuan, Vice General Manager of Guangzhou's Friendship Store, said:
" China's domestic market has developed fairly well on the whole. During the May Day Holidays, sales went up tremendously in most domestic department stores. I think in order to explore the domestic the market, both domestic and foreign trading companies must make some adjustments. Foreign trade companies usually prefer manufacturing large quantities of goods, whilst we need varieties but in smaller quantities."
Guangdong's First Direct Passenger Liner to Taiwan Set off
Yesterday (May 6th), the passenger ship "Asian Star" set off from Shantou to Taiwan on her maiden voyage. The ship is the first passenger ship to Guangdong in direction of Taiwan. Shantou was the 3rd city authorized by the Ministry of Transport to operate a direct passenger links to Taiwan, after Shanghai and Xiamen.
