Zhong Nanshan: A/H1N1 likely to Experience a Second-round Outbreak The famous academic Zhong Nanshan, who contributed immensely towards fighting SARS and avian flu, said yesterday (May 5th) that the northern hemisphere, including China, is likely to experience a second-round outbreak of influenza A/H1N1 in Autumn. Our reporter Luo Su has the story: "The influenza will evolve. For example, at the early stage of SARS, it wasn't highly infectious or deadly. As the virus developed, it underwent mutation. Therefore it is hard to say today whether or not this virus is dangerous or not. We should be on high alert and ready if the virus does evolve into a more deadly human-to-human pandemic."
Wang Hao, Zhang Yining win singles gold at table tennis worlds In table tennis, China swept all the gold and silver medals in the eight-day championships in Yokohama, Japan, leaving only three bronzes medals to be shared between Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. GZ-DG-SZ City Railway Changes the Starting Point in Xintang The railway line connecting Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen is soon to be extended. According to the Guangzhou Daily, the train connecting Guangzhou to Shenzhen will soon start in the city of Zengcheng, extending the length of the network by around 100 kilometers.
