China's Urban Residents' Income Grows in Q1 A latest survey released by the National Bureau of Statistics indicated that in the first quarter of the year, the disposable income of China's urban residents' reached an average of around 4800 Yuan per person, which is an increase of over 10% from the same period last year. Experts pointed out that until China's economy recovers from the financial crisis, it's impossible to know if this is a trend or not.
Meat Imports from Mexico Banned in Guangdong The rising death toll due to the Mexican swine flu epidemic sent a wave of alarm around the world. China is banning meat imports from Mexico and from the five US states that had confirmed 20 cases of the flu. Guangdong is on high alert and enhancing checks to prevent any outbreak in the province. Checks on mail and luggage coming from the US or Mexico are also being tighten.
The 50th World Table Tennis Championships Commences Today The 50th World Table Tennis Championships started today (April 28th) in Yokohama in Japan. The Chinese table tennis team had a pre-competition training in the championship main stadium. The first round of the man's singles will start on Thursday(April 30th).
