China's Stock Market Fell Sharply Today And it was another bad session for China's stock market that fell sharply today (Feb 17th).The Shanghai Composite Index slid 2.93 percent to 2,319 points, in hectic trading day after initially rising 2.96 percent to a five-month high on Monday (Feb 16th). The Shenzhen Component Index also experience a decrease of 3.53%, closing at 8461 points.
Guangdong Travel Agency Gives out Travel Coupons to Senior Citizens The Nanhu International Travel Agency started giving out yesterday (Feb 16th) a total amount of 20 million Yuan worth of travel coupons to senior citizens aged 55 and above. Every senior citizen can claim a 100 Yuan travel coupon, and exchange it for 100 Yuan in cash when signing-up to a tour heading either outside of Guangdong or abroad. According to the travel agency, this move is aimed at boosting consumption in the tourism industry. However, some people doubt if it will have much effect since 100 Yuan is rather a small amount of money compared to some expensive package tours.

WI-FI to Covers All of the PRD The Guangdong branch of China Mobile said that it will invest 1 billion Yuan this year to improve the wi-fi network throughout the Pearl River Delta. Guangdong's general manager for China Mobile, Xu Longri, indicated that their goal is to offer the PRD a 100% wi-fi coverage. This investment is viewed as yet another move to speed up the unification of the PRD.
LPG Prices in Guangdong Continue to Drop Guangzhou's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have dropped to as low as 65 Yuan per kg, the same price paid six years ago. Affected by international petroleum prices, Guangdong's LPG prices have gradually been decreasing since the second half of last year. According to price control authorities, LPG prices in Guangdong will continue to drop throughout the month.
