Representatives of Guangdong Provincial People's Congress Propose to Alter Taxation System
During the second plenary session of the 11th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress yesterday (Feb 15th); representatives made proposals for revising the individual income tax system. They indicated that people should pay taxes per household instead as per individuals, since nowadays most households consist of 4 people on average, usually with old people to support, and that this could be a burden. According to representatives, these new proposals are to embody more fairness.

Guangzhou Metro to Build Three More Lines
An extension to Guangzhou Metro's Line 6, the first stage of Line 7 and Line 9 has been authorized by the National Development and Reform Commission. The three lines will total 53.4 kilometers and construction is expected to complete by 2012. By that time, traffic conditions between Panyu, Xinzao, Huadu and the new airport will have considerably improved.

Cold front to Hit Guangdong Today
A new cold front is expected to hit Guangdong today (Feb 16th) with temperatures dropping slightly. Northern Guangdong will see light rain, whilst most of the province including the PRD will experience cloudy weather, even leading to fog in the west. Today (Feb 16th) Guangzhou will be mainly cloudy with slight drizzle later today and temperatures are expected to range between 21 to 24 degrees with a slight breeze heading-in from the south-east.
