Top Legislature Opens; Governor Delivers Report
The second plenary session of the 11th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, the province's top legislature, opened at 9 AM today (Feb 13th) in Guangzhou, with Guangdong governor Huang Huahua delivering a government work report to the delegates. The congress will last five days, closing Tuesday afternoon.

Housing Pices Drop 0.9% Year-on-year in Jan. The National Development and Reform Commission announced yesterday (Feb 12) that housing prices in China's 70 major cities fell 0.9 percent year-on-year in January, losing 0.2% compared to last month. Shenzhen has seen the most dramatic drop amongst the 70 cities, with real estate prices diving by 16.5% in 2008.
7 PRD Cities to Use Unified Toll System Seven major cities within the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Jiangmen, Dongguan and Zhongshan, plan to adopt a unified annual ticket toll system for drivers. Drivers would be able to buy an annual ticket in one of the cities and then travel freely throughout the entire network. Guangzhou and Foshan took the initiative last October to use a unique annual ticket on its connecting roads. The Guangdong Communication Department is currently soliciting public opinions from inhabitants from these 7 cities.
