Foreign Consulate Officials Invited to Observe The Guangdong Provincial People's Congress The second plenary session of the 11th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress will open tomorrow (Feb 13th) morning in Guangzhou. The congress will last five days, closing Tuesday afternoon. A total of 790 representatives will take part in the congress and over 100 citizens and consuls from 25 consulates in Guangzhou will attend the congress as observers.
Housing Prices Drop 0.9% Year-on-year in Jan. The National Development and Reform Commission said this morning (Feb 12) that housing prices in China's 70 major cities fell 0.9 percent year-on-year in January. Shenzhen has seen the most dramatic drop amongst the 70 cities, with real estate prices diving by 16.5%. As for urban housing prices, in January they fell 0.2% compared to December.

Transportation Flow via Hengqin Checkpoint Resumed To Normal The transportation flow via Zhuhai's Hengqin Checkpoint has resumed to normal levels as logistic companies running cargo between Zhuhai and Macao re-opened after the spring festival vacations. Beginning yesterday (February 11), the boarder saw a substantial rise in traffic, going from several hundred to 2000 vehicles per day. Authorities have taken special measures to cope with the sharp increase and ensure rapid and smooth clearance. Guangzhou Imports Fresh Flowers for Valentine's Day The upcoming western Valentine's Day will definitely boost flower sales in Guangzhou. Up to 20 tons of fresh flowers have been arriving everyday at Guangzhou's Baiyun International Airport since Monday (February 9). These flowers are mostly imported from Kunming and the most popular ones are of course those symbolizing love, such as roses, lilies and carnations.
