U.S. Senate Approves Massive Stimulus Package U.S. Senate approved on Tuesday President Barack Obama's massive stimulus package, designed to revive the sagging American economy. The vote was 61-37. Lawmakers had to resolve differences between the Senate's 838-billion-dollar bill and an 819-billion-version of the legislation approved last week by the House of Representatives. Once the final bill is crafted and passed by both chambers, it shall be sent to the president for signing. Obama has set until February the 16 deadline for the bill to be discussed.
Guangzhou to Enhance Efforts in Housing for Those in Poverty In the upcoming two years, Guangzhou will enhance its efforts in providing more housing for those in need. The city will build more low-rent houses but also purchase pre-owned houses to supplement the low-rent housing offer, bringing the number of cheap accommodation to over 77.000.
