GD to Push Forward The Process of Integration of The Pearl River Delta
Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua said yesterday (Jan 3rd) that in order to push forward the process of integration of the Pearl River Delta, the importance of integrating the energy resources and that of the inter-city transportation system should be addressed. Huang indicated that the networks and prices of petrol, natural gas and electricity should be unified respectively within the PRD.
Guangzhou-Qingyuan Expressway to Be Expanded The Guangzhou-Qingyuan expressway construction scheme has been approved and will soon start construction. The expressway's current four-lane system will be expanded to an eight-lane one to enable bigger capacity of transportation and around 5 billion Yuan will be invested. The expressway is expected to complete construction and be put into use by the end of 2012.

Large Wtland Park to Be Built in Zengcheng for Asian Games The 16th Asian Games' dragon boat contest will take place in Guangzhou's Zengcheng district in 2010. For this special event, a 10-kilometer long, 30 square-kilometer area wetland park will be built at both banks of the Zengjiang River. It is expected that 50 million Yuan will be invested and by the end of its construction, this wetland park will be the largest of its kind in Guangzhou.
Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center Parking-lot to Complete Construction before Asian Games The Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center underground parking-lot is expected to complete construction and be put into use before the Asian Games begin in 2010. By then, the new parking-lot will offer 3500 spots to ease the pressure of car-parking during the Asian Games. Moreover, in three years' time, a total of 4200 parking spots will be built in 22 newly-built downtown parking-lots.
