Guangdong Embraces Post-holiday Travel Rush
Guangdong Labor and Social Security Department yesterday announced, the Province embraced the post-holiday travel rush earlier than expected. From the first day until the fifth day of the first month of Chinese lunar Calendar, an estimated 1.68 million migrant workers came back to Guangdong after they spent the Spring Festival in their homes. The number saw a 3.8% rise compared with that of 2007. Over 90% of them not seeking the new job opportunities still worked for their previous employers.

GZ Experiences a Surge in Restaurant Businesses
Major restaurants in Guangzhou, such as Guangzhou Restaurant and Dongfang Hotel, experienced a surge in their businesses during the 7-day Chinese Spring Festival holidays, with at least 10% growth compared with that of last year, estimated by the insiders.

Nadal Wins First Australian Open Title
The World number one Rafael Nadal won his first Australian Open title and sixth Grand Slam title after outplaying world number two Roger Federer in the men's final in Melbourne Park on Sunday. Nadal, the French Open, Wimbledon and Olympic champion, finally made a breakthrough at the hard court Grand Slam, taming three-time winner Federer 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-2 after battling for four hours and 23 minutes.
