Chinese Premier to Visit Europe, Attend World Economic Forum Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu announced yesterday (Jan 20th) that Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will pay official visits to Switzerland, Germany, the EU headquarters, Spain and Great Britain between Jan. 27th and Feb. 2nd. He will also attend the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos.
Obama Sworn in as 44th U.S. President Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States of America in Washington yesterday, becoming the first African-American president in the country's 233-year history. Standing on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol and putting his left hand on a Bible used to swear in his role model, President Abraham Lincoln, in 1861, the 47-year-old took the 35-word oath of office around noon,administered by Chief Justice John Roberts.

Toilet to be Made Along GZ's Metro Five By the end of the year, Guangzhou Metro's line five will be put into operation, facilitating transport between the east and the west of the city. The first 24 metro stations have been built, including stops along Huangshi Lu. The new line will stretch over 32 kilometers, with ticket fees based on travel mileage. Toilets might also be added in some stations.
