Guangdong Finance Bureau to Spend 1.9 Billion Yuan on Boosting Foreign Trade
Yesterday evening (Jan 19), the head of Guangdong's Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Liang Yaowen, revealed that Guangdong's foreign trade goal for in 2009 is to reach at least a slight increase from the 2008 level. The Guangdong Provincial Finance Bureau will spend 1.9 billion Yuan to adjust the structure for exporting products and upgrade the trade in processed products.

New Year Food Prices Drop 10 to 20%
Yesterday (Jan 19), a report from the Guangzhou price investigation center showed a 10 to 20% drop in prices for New Year food. New Year treats are usually candies, dried food and nuts and other traditional sweet Chinese pastries. According to the supermarkets Carrefour and Trust-Mart, the prices of candies have now dropped by 6 to 10% compared to the same period of last year. and dried scallops have dropped by over 15%.

Huadu and Panyu Flower Markets Opens up Yesterday
The Huadu and Panyu flower markets opened up yesterday (Jan 19). This year flower prices have generally dropped by 10 to 20%. The Tianhe, Huangpu, and Pailu flower markets are now being set-up and will open to the public on the 23rd of this month.
