Guangzhou's GDP in 2008 Estimated to Exceed 80,000 Yuan per Capita
During the 6th plenary session of the 9th Guangzhou CPC committee yesterday (Jan 12), Guangzhou's estimated GDP for 2008 was announced. Guangzhou is expected to have reached a GDP of over 820 billion Yuan last year, that is 80,000 yuan per capita, up by over 12% from 2007.

Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit to Start Construction This Year
In a conference today, Guangzhou Mayor, Zhang Guangning, announced a series of measures that are to be launched this year. The measures are quite varied, with for instance housing subsidies increased to help citizens purchase property, or the acceleration of the development of the Bus Rapid Transit, an improved and much speedier bus transportation system, that is expected to start operating by the end of the year.
