The Blueprint for the PRD Highlights Significant Growth in Per-Capita Income
According to the blueprint for the Pearl River Delta's development, the PRD region should take the lead by building itself a well-off society by 2012, and its per capita regional GDP should reach 80,000 yuan. The per-capita income of the PRD's rural and urban residents should also see a significant growth this year, comparable to that of 2007. The life expectancy average of Guangdong's population should rise to 78 years old.  
 
4000 Square Meters more Space for Tents at Guangzhou Railway Station Plaza
And To better accommodate passengers during the Spring Festival travel rush, an additional 4000 square meters of temporary waiting tents have been set up on the Guangzhou Railway Station plaza. 
 
People's Bank of China Dismisses Rumor on the 100-yuan Fake Notes Being High-Quality
The People's Bank of China dismissed yesterday the rumor that there is no way to distinguish the fake 100 RMB banknotes starting by HD90. According to the central bank, these counterfeit notes can only fail "low quality cash detectors", but they can't trick banks,  ATM machines or even the human eye. The bank added that not all 100-yuan notes starting with HD90 are counterfeit and that recognizing the numbers should not be the sole means to tell the fake notes apart.

World's Largest Commodity Exhibition and Trade Center to be Constructed in Guangzhou
Construction of the world's largest commodity exhibition and trade center started yesterday (Jan 8th) in Panyu. With a total area of 5.76 million square meters, this center will become the largest and comprehensive wholesale market in the world when it opens in 2010.
