The Forth Plenary Session of the Tenth Guangdong CPC Committee Concludes
The Forth Plenary Session of the Tenth Guangdong CPC Committee ended this morning (Jan 7) in Guangzhou. The committee approved the draft proposal for Guangdong's 2009 work focus.

Guangdong Mobile Launches First 3G Cell Phone Number 188
The Ministry of industry announced this afternoon(Jan 7th) that it has issued third-generation (3G) licenses to China mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom. This move marks China's entry into the 3G era. The Guangdong branch of China Mobile, is going to issue the China's first third-generation (3G) cell phone numbers starting with 188. Available tomorrow (Jan 8) in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, the 3G networks handles faster data downloads, allowing cell phone users to make video calls and watch TV programs. The fees for 3G are similar to other cell phone packages.

Relief Campaign Starts in Guangzhou
As the Spring Festival draws near, government departments in Guangzhou have been actively sending relief to people in need. This morning, a ceremony was held in the People's Park to mark the beginning their campaign.
Ms Qi, who has a very low income received a relief package consisting of rice, oil and candies.
"This really helps me a lot. Such a large bottle of oil can last me several months."
Last year, Guangzhou issued over 250 million yuan to low-income households, 50 million yuan more than in 2007 and up to 46,000 families benefited from the move. Mr. Zhang is also very thankful and said:
"The difficulties we suffer in our daily lives, like housing and medical fees are taken care of by the government. Our children can focus on their studies without worrying too much about their lives."
