GD's Work Focus for 2009 Announced
The Forth Plenary Session of the Tenth Guangdong CPC Committee was held in Guangzhou yesterday (5th). Guangdong Governor, HuangHuahua, made the arrangement of work for this year. Huang outlined ten economic work focuses. Here are some points: The priority will be given to guarantee the stable and relatively rapid economic development. To accelerate the economic transition and restructuring, and continue to improve people's living standards.

Growth of National Fiscal Revenue to Slow Down in 2009
At a national conference on Monday (Jan 4th), Finance Minister Xie Xuren revealed that China's fiscal revenue last year is predicted to have crossed 6 trillion yuan ($878 billion), up 19 percent over 2007. However, the increase started to decline in the second half of 2008 and the downward trend is expected to continue in 2009.

Guangdong Spring Festival Travel Rush Traffic Police Start Patrolling
To handle the Spring Festival Travel Rush which will take place soon, Guangdong traffic police conducted the around-the-clock patrolling along the major expressways starting yesterday(Jan 6th), one week ahead of scheduled. The patrolling mainly targets any possible threats to the transport safety, such as overloading and the carriage of hazardous chemicals. Our reporter Zhang Keng has the details.

The patrolling mobilizes more technological methods to guarantee the transport safety. He Guifu, head with communication management bureau under Guangdong Public Security Department,
"A device will be installed to check the intensity of the car flow along 10 major expressways across the Province. We will also use the helicopters to conduct the safety supervision."
