Government Promote Key Projects to Boost Domestic Demand
Guangzhou governmental organizations introduced key projects this morning (November 21), at a conference aiming to promote business opportunities and boost domestic demand. Our journalist Chang Zhifeng has more:
Challenged by the global financial crisis, Guangdong is seeking ways-out by launching key construction projects to stimulate domestic demand. Director of the Guangzhou Economic and Trade Committee, Zhao Xiaoshui, specially mentioned the Guangzhou Asian Games.
"The Guangzhou Asian Games is an important project we hope will boost demand. We shall communicate thoroughly with companies and financial organizations, to present them with new investment opportunities, showing them the products we need to purchase, so as to encourage them to get actively involve."
AmCham to Collect Funds for Quake-hit Sichuan
The 2008 Winter Charity Ball held by the American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) is to be held at the Shangri-La Hotel Guangzhou tomorrow evening (Nov 22nd). The ball will collect funds for the reconstruction of quake-affected areas in Sichuan province.
Terry Fox Run to start in GZ
The 6th Terry Fox - Miracle of hope Run of Guangzhou, will take place tomorrow (November 22) at Guangzhou's Luhu Golf & Country Club. This charity campaign was launched in Canada and has spread all over the world, arriving in China in the 1990s.
Chinese shares close 0.72% down amid regional market rebounds Chinese shares dropped by only 0.72 percent to close at 1,969 points today amid rebounds on other Asian equities markets. Analysts see such a small drop as a sign indicating that investor's sentiments have been boosted by rises on the regional market and expectations of further interest rate cuts over the weekend.
