GZ Asian Games Torch Relay Travels Downtown GZ
The Guangzhou Asian Games torch relay was in downtown Guangzhou this morning (Nov. 9th). Starting at nine this morning, the torch relay set off from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to the five-goat stone sculpture, Jiefang road, Haizhu Square, over Haizhu bridge, down Nanhuadong lu, Binjiang lu, Yuejiang lu, and finally reached Pazhou Complex. The entire relay covered 18 kilometers. 208 torch bearers attended the torch relay, many of whom are celebrities and famous athletes. They included the Beijing Olympic gymnastic Yang Yilin, the Olympic shooting champion Wang Yifu, the famous Chinese economist Wu Jinglian and the Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Timothy FOK Tsun-ting. Tomorrow (Nov. 10th) and the day after tomorrow (Nov. 11th) the torch relay will be held on Dafu mountain forest park and at Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center.

Japan Men's Football Team Beats China 3-0
China's Asian Games got off to a miserable start yesterday (Nov. 8th) when the men¡¯s football team was smashed 3-0 by Japan in their opening game of the football tournament. The defeat came as no surprise to football fans and it now leaves the team with the near to impossible task of beating South Korea in order to move on to the next round.

Uzbekistan Athletes Arrive in Shenzhen
A contingent of athletes from Uzbekistan arrived at Shanzhen's Bao'an aiport yesterday (8th) and they will participate in the upcoming Guangzhou Asian Games. Statistics from the Shenzhen Airport's border inspection office indicates that the number of foreigners entering the border went up considerably starting November, just the first week it exceeded 10,000 persons. Many of them have come here to see the Asian Games.
