Test Event Held at the Newly-Completed Asian Games Town Stadium Last Saturday (September 4th), the 2010 Guangdong Gymnastic Invitational was held inside the newly-completed Asian Games Town gymnasium, a good way to test the new facilities. This gymnasium shall be the major venue for the Asian Games Gymnastics. The hall can seat 6800 people.

Construction Hai Xinsha Venues for Asian Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies Almost Completed Construction in Zhujiang Xincheng of the long new garden-axis linking the TV tower and central Tianhe is near completion. The central plaza near Haixin Island should open to the public by the end of this month and shortly afterwards the APM should start running, that is small metro line running between the TV tower and Citic plaza. Guangzhou Mayor Wan Qinliang yesterday suggested during his inspection that a sight-seeing terrace be built at the top of a building near the plaza. In addition, the venues where the Asian Games opening and closing ceremonies shall be held are almost completed.
First Training for Asian Games Junior Reporters Held The first training for the Asian Games junior reporters was conducted over the weekend at the Guangzhou Youth Palace. Over 100 middle and primary-school students were trained in basic news coverage skills. During the Asian Games, over 5000 junior reporters, 6 to 17, will cover the event.
Charity Show Collects Over 30 Million Yuan for Asian Para Games Athletes A large-scale charity show was held last Friday (September 3rd) in Guangzhou's Tianhe Sports Stadium to mark the 100th day countdown to the Guangzhou Asian Para Games. A charity fund raising was organized and over 30 million yuan was collected, part of which will be used to sponsor the accommodation and transport costs for 5 athletes from each of the 41 participating countries and regions to the Games.
