Cricket Test Event Completes
The cricket test events for the upcoming Asian Games ended yesterday (August 17) in Guangzhou, with Shenyang team winning the gold medal. Cricket has now become one of the Asian Games' disciplines for the very first time. Located at the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre in Panyu district, the Asian Games' cricket stadium is the first international cricket stadium in Chinese mainland.



Thailand names 12 tennis players for Asian Games
The Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT) has announced the names of the 12 players it shall be sending to the 16th Asian Games. Six men and six women have been selected based on their world ranking. The men's team is led by defending champion Danai Udomchoke, who ranks 911 in the world, and the women's squad is spearheaded by Tamarine Tanasugarn (109 in the world).


Sixteen Nepali karatekas make cut for final selection of Asiad
The Nepal Karate Federation (NKF) Monday (August 16) picked out the 16 athletes who shall fight for a place to attend the Guangzhou Asian Games in November. The karatekas include six kumite players who won medals during the 11th South Asian Games in February in Dhaka. The final selection tournament will take place on September 1st. Only one player from each category will represent Nepal in the Games.
