Outpatient service centre to be open for 16th Asian Games The Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) announced yesterday (Aug 12th) that a Hospital will open in October next year, providing free healthcare to athletes, coaches, reporters and volunteers. The medical centre is located in the Asian Games Village in Panyu. It covers 2,500 square meters and has 12 departments. It will be put into operation on October 25th, 2010 and remain open until November 30, 2010. After the Games, the center will be up-graded into a comprehensive hospital for the future inhabitants of the community.


First batch of Asiad theme sports lottery to be launched in October Xinkuaibao Newspaper reports that in order to raise funds for the 16th Asian Games, an Asian Games lottery will be launched in October. The Asian Games lottery will feature two themes "Harmonious Asia" and "Fascinating Lingnan", and the tickets will have a face value of 5 and 10 yuan. Ye Xiquan, the deputy secretary general of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, said that the Guangdong Sports Lottery Management Centre is going to contribute 134 million yuan for the construction and renovation of competition venues.

"Iron Hammer" to coach Guangdong local club Lang Ping, former China and US national volleyball head coach, has accepted an offer to manage the Guangdong Hengda women's club. This will be Lang's first coaching job in China in 11 years. She helped the Chinese team win five consecutive titles including a gold medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, a World Championship title and a second place in the 1982 Asian Games.
