GZ to Launch Second Drill over Asian Games Traffic Control
Tomorrow (Sept 11th) shall begin the second 4-day trial of vehicle limitations measures which are to be implemented during the Asian Games to reduce traffic and air pollution. The main measure is the odd or even license plate restriction which could cut by up to half the number of cars on the road. The trial shall last until the 14th, everyday from 8am to 8pm. Tomorrow, those violating the ban will be first be notified by the police and if caught again, fined 200 yuan and see 3 points deducted from their driving license. In addition, vehicles without the "green label", which means low emission, are banned on road. The city of Dongguan, one of the co-host cities of the Asian Games will also take part in the trial.
Teachers' Day Marked today
Today (September 10), is Teachers' Day and in campuses and schools across the country, students will be conveying their best wishes and greetings to their teachers. Our journalist Wang Jianping has the details:
At Guangzhou No. 13 middle school, students gathered together to discuss the celebrations. They were thinking about getting each pupil to write down their best wishes and offer that as a gift:
" we wish our teachers health and every success with their work. "
Others had different ideas:
"I will visit my primary school teachers and wish them good health."
"I will send flowers. I wish her health and happiness. "
Teachers' Day was established to honor teacher's contribution to the society but Chinese President Hu Jintao yesterday called on teachers to embrace reform and innovation in teaching and improve their teaching standards.

GZ Recruits Abroad Talents for Innovation-Driven Industries
Scheduled to take place in December, the 13th Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology will feature the attendance of non-ethnic Chinese foreigners. Up to 60% of the participants invited are PhD degree holders. The convention is an annual event aiming to recruit talents to lead the development of the high-tech industry, in particular innovation-driven industries. To attract more talents to work in Guangzhou, the city will allocate 200 million yuan to transfer scientific research into the market.
