Diaoyu incident 'could harm ties'
China warned Japan on Thursday that their relationship would suffer if Tokyo mishandled the dispute over a Chinese fishing boat seized by the Japanese coast guards in waters off the disputed Diaoyu Islands. PRC Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said at a regular news conference that "The Diaoyu Islands are China's inseparable territory, and Japan applying its domestic law to the Chinese fishing boat operating in this area is absurd, illegal and invalid." Jiang said China has also sent "a fishing law enforcement ship" to the area to safeguard order and protect the safety of fishermen and their assets".

The Vice director of the Guangzhou Administration of Press, Publication, Radio and Television, Chen Chunsheng, said the number of performances will set a new record in Guangzhou and that they shall present great diversity:
"They will include musical drama, modern dramas, dancing, Cantonese opera, acrobatics, concerts, etc. "
An estimated 220,000 tickets will be on sale. A lottery will be held offering 70% of the tickets to citizens for free.

 

Heavy rain sweeps Eastern Guangdong as Tropical Storm approaches
The 10th tropical storm so far this year, Meranti, landed in neighboring Fujian province this morning (Sept 10th). Under the influence of the storm, there will be heavy rain in eastern Guangdong and in the east of the Pearl River Delta. Strong winds of up to gale force 8 are expected.
