GZ to Launch Second Drill over Asian Games Traffic Control
The 2nd test run of the vehicle limitations measures including the odd or even license plate restrictions will be held between this Saturday and next Tuesday in Guangzhou. Violators will be fined 200 yuan and 3 points will be deducted from their driving license. Different from the first drill, the test period will be shortened by3 hours, starting at 8am, and ending at 8pm.. Previously, officials had announced that other cities in the PRD would join in this test. However, at yesterday's press conference, the spokesman said other PRD cities would decide, by themselves, whether to participate in the test or not.

VP calls on Chinese firms to boost foreign investment
Vice President Xi Jinping today (September 7) encouraged Chinese companies to expand overseas investment as the country became the fifth largest global investor. Xi made the remarks at the opening of the Second World Investment Forum, sponsored by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). China ranks as the fifth largest global investor in outbound direct investment (ODI) with a total volume of $56.5 billion, figures released Sunday by the Ministry of Commerce showed. The country had supported its enterprises in developing international operations in research and development, production and distribution.

GZ Citizens to be Able to Enjoy Cleaner Drinking Water Supply
Prior to the 2010 Asian Games, six million people in Guangzhou will be able to drink higher quality water coming from the Xijiang river. Pipelines have successfully been connected, transporting the water 71.6 kilometers. This new water supply shall completely replace the original drinking water in northwest Guangzhou.
