Congress and firework shows to mark the 30th anniversary of SEZ
A large government conference will be held today (September 6) to mark the 30th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Another highlight of the celebrations shall be a 30-minute firework display beginning at 8:30 PM tonight. A similar firework show will also take place tonight in the Zhuhai special economic zone.

China surges to 5th largest global investor
The Ministry of Commerce said on Sunday (September 5) that China bucked international trends in both outbound and inward investment. China now ranks as the fifth largest global investor in outbound direct investment (ODI) with a total volume of $56.5 billion, compared to a ranking in 12th position in 2008. On top of this, foreign direct investment (FDI) this year was set to "surpass $100 billion", compared to $90 billion last year, ministry officials predicted.

Philanthropist Promise to donate all property
The well-known Chinese philanthropist Chen Guangbiao has promised to donate all his property after death, in all, assets worth over 5 billion yuan. Chen, the CEO of a resources recycling company in east Jiangsu Province, is known for his generosity and has been actively engaged in charity projects. In May 2009, he built a public training center in the city of Nanjing with an investment of 130 million yuan (US$19 million) to promote public disaster awareness. Last month, he donated one million yuan (US$146,821) to Pakistani flood victims.
